Reach
Marketing (now Fitwinner Bhd Sdn) first introduced the
Ms Fitness pageant and concept to our country in the year
2002. In 2003, the Ms Malaysia Fitness pageant held its
semi-finals on 24th May 2003 at the concourse of the Sungei
Wang Shopping Complex with 30 contestants. By the end
of the evening, 15 lucky ladies were picked as finalists.
The
finals was held at the Bayview Beach Resort, Batu Ferringhi,
Penang on 5th July 2003. Graced by the presence of Health
Minister Y.B. Dato' Dr Chua Jui Meng and Penang State
Executive Councillor Y.B. Dato' Dr Teng Hock Nan, the
event was truly a colourful and exciting affair with
fifteen of Malaysia's most beautiful women conveying
an important message of health through this pageant.
Ms Kellyn Cheah walked away that night as Ms Fitness
Malaysia 2003.
Ms
Debbie Chew, managing director of Reach Marketing (now
Fitwinner Bhd Sdn) and joint organiser of this event
emphasized the need for more events like this. "These
ladies were judged not only based on how they looked
physically, but how they achieved the look. They must
be fit, and most importantly they must believe in maintaining
a healthy lifestyle through correct eating habits. They
do not starve themselves, they do not smoke and they
do not believe in drug abuse. They should be confident
to reach across boundaries, and develop relationships
with people of different levels to encourage others
to increase their awareness of the importance of a healthy
lifestyle. In order to achieve this, they must first
be an example- and that example is Ms Fitness Malaysia
2003."
