As
the tamarind rays of the sun smiled through the blissful
morning clouds, peals of youthful laughter could be heard
across Dataran Timur, Petaling Jaya. Twins, triplets,
quadruplets, brothers and sisters of multiple set families,
more than your fingers could count, turned up in throngs
with their families for our party on 12 th October 2003
in celebration of life!
Reach
Marketing (now Fitwinner Bhd Sdn) and the Ministry of
Women and Family Development were proud to jointly organise
and present the Malaysia Multiple Family Celebrations
(MMFC). Together with Majlis Perbandaran Petaling Jaya,
the event aimed to emphasise community awareness of
the joys of modern family life, intra-cultural tolerance
as well as involving the public in mass charity activities.
Joining
us in celebration was Y.B. Dr. Lim Thuang Seng (AMS
JP, ADUN Bukit Gasing, Ahli Majlis MPPJ), the Malaysian
Book of Records and the Kiwanis Down's Syndrome Foundation.
We rocked the town down with giant inflatable castles,
pony rides, colouring contests and there was even a
“Twins Creative Fashion Parade”. It was giggles galore
when our bubbly clowns came around with bright scripture
balloons and screams of excitement during our Muhibah
Treasure Hunt!
We
had great fun while doing our bit for charity at the
Dunk Pool, where all contributions went to the Kiwanis
Down's Syndrome Foundation. We adopted ducks for the
Kiwanis Charity Duck Race and by participating for just
RM 18.00 we stood a chance to win 55,555 times that
amount for a cool total of RM 1 million!
The
Malaysian Book of Records recorded this mammoth event,
where there was a countdown to see if we made it into
“The Book” as the biggest gathering of families with
multiple-set births in Malaysia. So guess what? We made
it!
