Summary Of IHFD 2001
It
was a cacophony of squeals and giggles as almost 6000
adults and children milled around the La Salle School
, Klang, Selangor on the morning of 22 nd July 2001
for Malaysia 's first International Healthy Family Day.
Organised
by Sin Chew Jit Poh and Guang Ming Daily, the event
aimed at fostering healthier and closer relationships
between members of the family unit, regardless of age.
Road shows were held throughout the major shopping malls
in the Klang Valley, mainly Klang Parade, Subang Parade,
Shah Alam Mall and Amcorp Mall to bring awareness to
the programme.
It
was a flurry of activity with colouring contests, kid's
craft stations, magic shows and our very own Leonard
Tan serenading the crowd. Children were educated on
the importance of wildlife at our mini zoo, where they
could see animals in the flesh. There were also bungee
jumps, and screams of excitement could be heard when
our participants took the plunge! Families had the opportunity
to express their creativity at our Family Stage Show.
There was also fun and healthy competition at our Walk
Hunt. We are indeed privileged to have the presence
of Health Minister Y.B. Dato Dr Chua Jui Meng.
The
event ended on a high note, with families leaving with
more than just prizes and presents but with smiles and
joy in their hearts as well.
